A very short stage that allows you to explore the area and enjoy some beach time, in view of the efforts of the next stages.
At Porto San Nicolò it is worth climbing Monte Brione and visiting the forts dating back to the Great War.
Tips for visiting the surroundings: a must-see tour to Arco, a mecca of sport climbing famous for its castle, or a trip to Lake Tenno with the nearby village of Canale or to Lake Ledro famous for its Bronze Age Pile Dwellings.

We cross the colorful center of Riva del Garda until we reach the shores of the lake, then we walk along the shore, heading east, along a pedestrian path. Leaving the inhabited center, we lazily pass beaches and small bays; then, shortly after skirting the fortified battery of San Nicolò, we go around the southern spur of Monte Brione (in this section, it is important to remember that you are on a cycle-pedestrian path and it is therefore mandatory to give way to bicycles).
After crossing the bridge over the Sarca river (which we saw originate in Val Genova, on the second stage), we quickly arrive at the charming center of Torbole; passing through Goethe square, we notice a plaque commemorating the stop of the great writer during his famous trip to Italy.
We say goodbye to the lake and, climbing up, take path 601 (or the “Roman Path”), a paved pedestrian road running at the foot of a beautiful limestone cliff; at the top are some small houses clinging to the rock, whose view is impossible not to envy. We pass through the center of Nago with a gentle climb.
The main centers of Garda Trentino - Riva del Garda, Arco, Torbole sul Garda, Nago - are connected by several urban and suburban bus lines, which allow access to the trailheads.
Riva del Garda and Torbole sul Garda are also reachable with the public navigation service.

Mountain hikes require specific clothing and equipment. Even for relatively short and easy outings, it is always better to be well equipped to avoid unpleasant surprises and to face unforeseen events such as a sudden storm or a drop in energy.
What to bring for a mountain trekking?
In the backpack (for a day hike, a 25/30L is usually recommended) it is good to bring:
Wear footwear suitable for the route and the season. The ground of the trails can be uneven or rough and a pair of hiking boots will protect you from sprains. A grassy slope, a rock slab or a steep path, if wet, can become dangerous without proper footwear.
Finally... do not forget the camera! It will be useful to capture the hike and the countless breathtaking views that Garda Trentino hides around every corner. If you want to share your memories with us, you can use the hashtag #GardaTrentino
